REITs or Real Estate Investment Trust can be a great source of passive income! In this video I go over what reits are, how they operate, and how you can make money from investing. Some people ask "are REITs a good investment?" and my answer is they can be! Publicly listed REITs are required to pay their shareholders 90 percent of their taxable income in the form of dividends. This means as a shareholder, you will receive dividend payments monthly, quarterly, or annually, and REITs that perform well can also pay extra bonus dividends throughout the year. Because of these higher dividend yields, REITs can be very appealing to investors especially to hedge their portfolios. So what is a REIT? Real Estate Investment Trusts are companies formed to solely invest in real estate by owning properties that tenants pay rent on, loaning out large sums of money like a mortgage company to profit off of interest payments, or profiting from buying and selling real estate properties in short amounts of time. There are 3 types of reits: Equity, Mortgage, and Hybrid. Publicly listed REITs can be bought and sold just like any other stock through a brokerage account like Webull, or TD Ameritrade.
