The new 10% IRS withholding tax law for publicly traded partnerships like BIP and Granite REIT stock

in this video, I’ll quickly go over the recent email that I received from WealthSimple about withholding taxes upon selling my stock inside my TFSA and a quick search in Reddit shows that lots of others Canadian investors received similar emails regarding some Canadian stocks which are registered as publicly traded partnerships like Brookfield infrastructure partners, Brookfield renewable partners, and Granite REIT. Other investors received similar emails from their brokerages like Questrade and Interactive brokers about the same withholding tax rule for PTPs. In this video, I show you my research on the topic and why I think stocks like BIP and GRT or Granite REIT are probably exempt from this rule (always do your own research and consult with your financial and tax advisors to make sure).
